What is JIQ?
Jesus in the Qur’an is, in some ways, an entirely new paradigm and, in other ways, an ancient one dating back to the days of Jesus. As a team, we have an intense desire to see peace blossom between Christians and Muslims, and we believe that the only place where that truly happens is in the Kingdom of God. With our Muslim friends, we begin with friendships, continue by studying the Bible and the Qur’an together, and finally move toward an answer to the all-important question: “Who is Jesus and what does He have to do with entering the Kingdom of God?”
For 1400 years, however, this interaction has been marked by deep misunderstanding. Sadly, a great deal of Christianity’s efforts to begin the conversation have caused more division than peace. But we aim to radically transform the conversation. We believe we must relearn to speak so that both Muslims and Christians can truly understand each other. What was Jesus’ way of sharing his message? What were Paul’s methods?
During our retreat weekends (usually spread across a Friday night and Saturday), we aim to introduce Christians to the basics of Islam, delve into the Bible and the Qur’an to see what they are really trying to say, and learn to speak peacefully and effectively about Jesus and the Kingdom with our Muslim friends.
